StreamBuddy App Design

StreamBuddy is a single platform that connects the wide world of streaming with consumer taste, habits, and friends. The service helps users track what they want to watch, recommends content across subscribed platforms, and combines with friends’ interests for smooth group watching everyone will enjoy. StreamBuddy helps users get the most out of streaming subscriptions and is the end of endless scrolling.

SCOPE

0→1, User Experience Design, User Interface Design, Prototyping

What if an app could help us make the most of streaming subscriptions and answer “what should we watch tonight?”

User Research

The age of streaming disrupting the entertainment industry is now at the stage where streamers are facing a long list of challenges to their business model that relied on continued growth. At the same time, users have higher expectations, significantly more choices, and tighter budgets. For this project, I conducted high-level market and user research to understand how a new product might improve user experience in this new stage of streaming.

User Personas

Out of the research, two user personas were created to illustrate the value of the proposal and drive strategic user flows.

Planning Information Architecture and User Flows

While StreamBuddy could impact a range of journeys within the streaming experience for identified users, the focus of this phase was to show how the product could assist in:

  1. Choosing what content to watch based on a user’s mood

  2. Choosing content in a group setting

Design

The user flows were illustrated in scaling fidelities and tested for feedback and improvement at each stage.

Look and Feel

The design of the brand elements and UI components are realized in bright colors and rounded edges and frames to drive a friendly and approachable interaction that can easily scale to multiple screen sizes and host the many colors of streaming content.
